Question: What do you call a Duck player with a championship ring?
Answer: A thief
It looks like a great day to hunt Duck. This morning I am going to give you some reasons to get fired up for todays matchup. I’m going to try to move beyond the obvious LeGarrette Blount, Nike, and crazy uniform references. Nah, how ’bout let’s start there and move on to strictly football reasons…
- The Huskies have lost five in a row to the Ducks.
- The Ducks have won 10 out of the last 14 games.
- This week was the 15th anniversary of the Kenny Wheaton – Damon Huard interception.
- A 23-16 loss to Oregon was the only blemish on the 2ooo season that ended in a Rose Bowl win over Purdue. The Huskies ended up with a #3 ranking.
- The last Dawg victories over Oregon came in 2002 and 2003 by the scores of 42-10 and 42-14. The last one was great because I got to watch it sitting in Husky Stadium with my Duck lovin’ father-in-law.
- As if watching the ’94 Wheaton clip for the umpteenth time isn’t enough, the following year in Husky Stadium is where my dislike of the Ducks truly began. The Huskies miss a game winning field goal as the clock is running out to lose 24-22. Duck players run out onto the field with towels fashioned like nooses around their necks. The beginning of seemingly endless instances of classless behavior by the team and their fans.
- The Huskies have beat a #3 team at home this year, the Ducks come in at #11 in the BCS.
Come on…you don’t NEED any of these reasons to get fired up! It’s the Duck game!
GO DAWGS!!! Beat the Ducks!
